Monica (The Mama) The name Monica comes from St. Monica, the patron St. of mothers (sometimes, we’re not Catholic, so I really don’t get it). It is said that shortly before her son came to the Lord, a priest said to her : “it is not possible that the son of so many tears should perish.” Beautiful.
Leoni (The Papa). Wordsworth wrote a poem about a guy who finds a baby in a tree. He takes the boy in and raises him. As the boy grows, he develops a mind of his own and sails to the Americas. It is said he lived and died with the savages and Leoni never knows what comes of him. Heart breaking.
MILly (my Mother In Law) this one is pretty self explanatory.
Agum (my baby brother). This is the name Simeon gave to him. I love my brother so very much!
Guydol (Leo’s older brother). Guydol is Leo’s best friend. He works for a big company doing the kind of job that no one really gets (numbers, programs, data, etc). He’s one of those super friendly, talk to anybody, makes you feel you’ve known him forever kind of guys. He’s one of the good ones.
Daisy (Guydol’s wife). Daisy is bright and creative and strong. She’s one of my favorite people in th whole world. My role model as a mother, minister and frend. She isn’t afraid of the truth; to tell it, or to ask you for it. She’s a great minister in her community and I wouldn’t be who I am today without her.
Rose (Leo’s first younger sister). Rose is tall and beautiful and studying economics. She’s smart and independent and fierce and fiery and strong. She’s the kind of girl that can do great, world changing things. I love when she’s around because she challenges my point of view and reminds me not to stay settled in the way I look at the world.
Joy (Leo’s second younger sister). Joy is tall and beautiful and a dancer. She’s kind hearted and determined, but more than any of that, she’s one of the funniest people I have ever met in my life. I’m talking, snortin’, pee your pants kind of funny! I’m always in a better mood when she’s around.
Bird (Leo’s baby brother). Bird is smart. I mean really uncommon kind of smart. He’s the youngest of the bunch, but is starting to come into his own. He’s developing quite a wit, and we couldn’t be more proud!
